About Kelsey
Kelsey Westermeyer earned her J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in 2016. She entered law school after prior undergraduate work and finished during a period of steady change in federal disability law. The diploma set the stage for a career spent arguing for individuals in administrative and federal forums.
She is admitted to practice in Kentucky and is authorized to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Early in her career she joined Lawrence & Associates, where she has served in multiple capacities. Her work there has involved representing clients through initial administrative filings, hearings before administrative law judges, and in some cases federal appeals.
Westermeyer joined the Northern Kentucky Bar Association’s Social Security Section in 2017 and remains an active member. That affiliation reflects a steady involvement in matters tied to Social Security disability. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing records and persistent in pursuing appeals when administrative decisions are unfavorable.
Her practice has emphasized the procedural and evidentiary issues that often decide disability claims. She reviews medical records, prepares witnesses for hearings, and drafts appellate briefs when cases move beyond the agency. Her courtroom presence is pragmatic; she sketches arguments clearly and keeps them tied to the record. That approach aims to clarify complex medical evidence for judges and hearing officers.
Outside of hearings and briefs, Westermeyer spends time helping clients understand the claims process. She breaks down timelines, explains what documentation matters, and sets expectations about outcomes and possible next steps. The work requires both detailed case management and repeated explanations of rules that can seem opaque to people new to the system.
Over time she has handled a range of disability matters, including applications, reconsiderations, hearings, and appeals. She continues to practice at Lawrence & Associates. She currently concentrates her practice on Social Security disability representation in Kentucky and appeals to the Sixth Circuit.
