About Kelsey Mills

Kelsey Mills Shofner trained in law at the University of Colorado Law School, completing her degree in 2013 after earlier studying corporate communication at the University of Texas at Austin. She brings an academic background that combines communication and legal training. That blend has shaped the practical work she has pursued since leaving law school.

Her first notable in-house role began in 2013 at GMR Protection Resources, Inc., where she held the title of Assistant General Counsel and Director of Legal Compliance. There she handled day-to-day legal matters for a private company and worked on compliance programs during a period of growth for the business. The position anchored her experience in corporate compliance and internal legal operations.

In 2020 she moved into private practice and consulting. She formed Shofner Consulting, PLLC and has served as its managing member. Through that vehicle she advised clients on legal and compliance questions, combining counsel work with practical problem solving for firms that needed outside legal support rather than a full-time in-house lawyer.

Her career took another turn in 2022 when she joined Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP as a senior lawyer. That role returned her to a larger-firm environment and broadened the range of matters she handles. She is active in the Dallas legal community and has been a member of the Dallas Bar Association since 2020. She also participates in Lawyers Serving the Community, an organization that connects attorneys to volunteer opportunities and community projects.

Shofner is admitted to practice in Texas. She has moved between in-house roles, consulting practice, and firm-side work, which gives her a perspective that spans internal corporate needs and external counsel responsibilities. Her writing and communication background informs how she briefs clients and colleague teams. Colleagues describe her approach as practical and direct; she tends to focus on clear legal analysis and workable compliance outcomes.

She continues to practice law in Texas, concentrating on corporate compliance and advising businesses on legal risk.
