About Kelly

Kelly Lavelle built a path to law from an economics classroom. She graduated from the University of Scranton in 1997 with a B.S. in Economics, then earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 2000. Those years shaped a practical approach to legal problems. The combination of analytical training and legal education appears in how she frames issues and advises clients.

After law school, Lavelle pursued admission to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is licensed to appear in courts in those two states and has worked on matters that cross state lines. In 2021 she joined Kang Haggerty LLC as an associate. That move marked a return to hands-on casework at a firm that handles a range of civil matters. Her role there has included client counseling, drafting court papers, and participating in hearings and negotiations.

Colleagues describe Lavelle as methodical in preparing a case and direct in courtroom settings. She favors clear explanations over legalese. That trait traces back to her undergraduate training in economics, where translating data into plain language was part of the coursework. At the law firm she applies the same habit to explain risks and options to clients.

Her practice touches both litigation and transactional work. In litigation she has handled motions and discovery, worked with experts, and prepared pleadings and briefs. On the transactional side she has assisted clients with contracts and regulatory compliance matters. The mix keeps her practice varied and requires regular movement between detailed document work and oral advocacy.

Outside the file, Lavelle has stayed connected to the legal community in both states. She attends local bar events and participates in continuing legal education programs to maintain current knowledge of procedural developments. Those activities have helped her build a network of experts and fellow practitioners she can consult when a case presents an unusual issue.

Lavelle is based at Kang Haggerty LLC, where she joined the firm’s associate ranks in 2021. She continues to split her time between matters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, representing clients in both state systems. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in matters across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
