About Kelly
Kelly Alfreds graduated from Charleston School of Law in 2014. She completed her J.D. that year and moved into practice in the Charleston area shortly after. The early years of her career were spent learning the day-to-day work of a local trial firm and building a client base in the Lowcountry.
She joined Steinberg Law Office in 2014 as an attorney. Over the next decade she handled matters from the firm’s Charleston and Goose Creek offices and took on increasing responsibility inside the firm. In 2024 she was made a partner, a step that reflected her years at the firm and her ongoing role in casework and firm management.
Alfreds is active in the local legal community. She holds membership in the Charleston County and Dorchester County bar associations and has been involved with the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar Association as the 1st Circuit representative since 2018. She joined the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Association for Justice in 2019. Outside of bar groups she participates in civic and civic-minded business organizations, including the Summerville Chamber of Commerce, where she serves on the board of directors.
Community work has been part of her professional life. Since 2019 she has served on the board of Children in Crisis and chairs its development committee. That role puts her in regular contact with local nonprofits and fundraising networks. She is also a member of Charleston Young Professionals, a group she joined early in her career.
Colleagues describe Alfreds as a lawyer who prefers steady, practical work over headlines. She mentors junior attorneys at the firm and represents individuals and organizations that come to Steinberg Law Office for assistance. Her day-to-day work has included client interviews, motion practice and courtroom appearances, handled from the firm’s multiple local offices.
Her practice remains anchored in the Charleston region. She works from Steinberg Law Office’s Charleston and Goose Creek offices and maintains ties across Dorchester and Charleston counties. She currently practices at Steinberg Law Office, handling a range of legal matters for clients in the Charleston and Goose Creek areas.
