About Keith Ronald

Keith Ronald Miles combines legal training, business study and a specialized tax degree to shape a practice that spans elder law, estate planning and related tax matters. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 1992, then took his law degree at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, completing his J.D. in 1995. He later returned to graduate study in business, receiving an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Georgia in 2005. In the 2010s he completed an LL.M. in Taxation at the University of Alabama School of Law, finishing that program in 2013.

Miles moved into private practice after gaining the credentials that would shape his niche. In 2008 he opened the Law Office of Keith R Miles, LLC and has served as the firm's principal attorney since then. The office handles individual and family legal matters that touch on aging, incapacity and the transfer of wealth. His background in both business and tax law informs the way he assesses risk and structures plans for clients.

He holds a Certified Elder Law Lawyer (CELA) credential from the National Elder Law Foundation, a certification that signals training and testing specific to elder law issues. That credential sits alongside his LL.M. in taxation, which supports the tax planning side of estate work. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is active in the Estate Planning Council of North Georgia.

Miles is licensed to practice in three states: North Carolina, New York and Georgia. That multi-jurisdictional admission allows him to serve clients whose lives or assets cross state lines. He handles matters such as estate and trust drafting, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, Medicaid and long-term care planning, and tax-aware estate administration.

Colleagues describe his work as methodical and measured. He approaches casework by breaking complex problems into discrete steps and by explaining options in plain language. Court appearances, drafting of estate documents and coordination with financial advisors are regular parts of his practice. He also works with families facing transitions that require both legal and financial planning.

He continues to run the Law Office of Keith R Miles, LLC and maintains memberships in elder law organizations that keep him connected to developments in estate planning and long-term care law. He currently practices elder law and estate planning at the Law Office of Keith R Miles, LLC.
