About Keith E.

Keith E. Donovan built a legal career that threads courtroom work and bar leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Delaware in 1988 and received his J.D. from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 1991. Those academic years marked the start of a multi-decade presence in Delaware’s trial community.

After law school, Donovan moved into practice in Delaware and steadily deepened his trial experience. He became a partner at Morris James Personal Injury Group in 2002. Over the years he has handled a broad docket of civil litigation matters tied to personal injury, taking cases through discovery and trial. His courtroom time has informed how he approaches client work and case preparation.

Donovan’s professional life runs on two tracks: practice and professional service. He has held leadership roles in several organizations that shape trial practice in the state. He served as president of the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2010, and he took on the treasurer role for the same organization beginning in 2011 and continuing to the present. He also served as president of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association from 2010 to 2011, and he was a member of the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners from 2013 to 2014. Those positions put him in frequent contact with other trial lawyers, judges, and bar governance issues.

Colleagues describe Donovan as practical in court and methodical in prep. He favors case strategies grounded in evidence and aims to present facts plainly to judges and juries. That approach has carried him through both complex hearings and full jury trials. He has maintained active membership in professional organizations since the early 1990s, staying engaged in the profession’s conversations about civil procedure, trial advocacy, and standards for practice.

At Morris James Personal Injury Group, Donovan works alongside other trial lawyers on high-stakes injury matters. He focuses his litigation practice on personal injury claims, representing individuals in cases that include serious bodily injury and wrongful death. He continues to try cases and to serve on professional boards that influence Delaware’s civil justice system.

His current practice centers on personal injury litigation, where he represents plaintiffs in serious-injury and wrongful-death matters.
