Kathleen Lawler Bodmer is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in both Massachusetts and California. She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1994 and to the California State Bar in 2000. Ms. Bodmer holds in California, where her license is currently active. She is the founder and principal attorney at her own firm, Attorney at Law, PC, with offices located in Scotts Valley and Campbell, California. Her practice primarily serves clients in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.
Ms. Bodmer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University in 1990. She then pursued her Juris Doctor degree at Boston University School of Law, graduating in 1994. This educational background has equipped her with a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, which she applies effectively in her legal practice.
Ms. Bodmer's practice areas include estate planning, trust administration, and business transaction law. She assists clients with estate planning needs ranging from basic wills and trusts to complex tax, gift, and charitable planning. Additionally, she provides guidance to small businesses on matters such as entity formation, contract negotiation, and employee relations. Her work encompasses various legal stages, including initial consultations, document preparation, negotiations, and, when necessary, litigation.
With over 30 years of experience, Ms. Bodmer has handled cases in both Massachusetts and California. In Massachusetts, she began her career with Devine Millimet & Branch and Moran & Sweeney. After relocating to California in 2000, she worked with Grunsky, Ebey, Farrar & Howell, APC before establishing her own practice in 2003. She is admitted to practice before the California Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Ms. Bodmer is an active member of the Santa Cruz County Estate Planning Council and serves on the Board of Directors for Bay Federal Credit Union. She is also involved with Le Tip International, Capitola Chapter. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, two children, and a rescued black labrador named Lodi. She also enjoys hiking, traveling, and participating in a book club.
