About Kate Stellmach

Kate Stellmach Freiert built her academic foundation in language and law. She graduated from the University of Minnesota–Morris in 2002 with a B.A. in French and English. That background in communication carried her to Hamline University School of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 2010 and completed a Certificate in Dispute Resolution. The combination of liberal arts and formal dispute-resolution training shaped how she approaches legal work: careful, precise, and attentive to how people express their positions.

Her early post-law-school years moved between publishing, corporate, and private-practice settings. In 2010 she worked as a lawyer editor at Thomson Reuters, a role centered on legal content and editorial accuracy. She joined Open Access Technology International, Inc. as a lawyer in 2012, and shifted back into private practice as an associate at Virtus Law, PLLC in 2013. Two years later she became an associate at Maser, Amundson, Boggio, P.A. Each stop added a different layer of practice experience and exposed her to varied legal environments.

Those positions gave her practical exposure to document drafting, client counseling, and the procedural side of disputes. Her editorial experience reinforced a close attention to legal writing and research. Work in a corporate legal department added a business-oriented perspective. Time in small and mid-size firms supplied hands-on practice in client intake and case management. Taken together, these roles fed a steady progression toward running a solo practice.

Her training in dispute resolution is one clear thread through this path. The certificate she earned at Hamline signaled an interest in negotiated outcomes and structured processes for resolving conflicts. She has drawn on that training when advising clients and pursuing resolution options outside of trial when appropriate. That approach sits alongside more traditional advocacy when matters require contested proceedings.

In 2020 she established Stellmach Law, PLLC. The firm operates in Minnesota and represents clients across the state. Today she runs the practice and handles matters directly, applying a background that spans legal publishing, corporate law, and private practice. Her present work centers on dispute resolution and legal counseling for clients in Minnesota.
