About Kate
Kate Merolo studied justice studies at Arizona State University, earning her B.S. in 2005. She went on to receive her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2009. Those academic steps placed her at the intersection of public policy and litigation early in her career. She left law school ready to work, and soon began practicing in both Arizona and Florida.
Her earliest legal work came in 2009 as a contract lawyer at Ryley Carlock & Applewhite. She moved into firm-side litigation roles the next year, joining Gurstel Chargo as an associate in 2010. In 2012, she held positions at two firms, serving as an associate at Ekmark & Ekmark, LLC and as a managing associate at Blatt Hasenmiller Leibsker & Moore. The variety of those roles exposed her to different practice environments and client needs. In 2016 she became a partner at Carpenter, Hazlewood, Delgado & Bolen, LLP, a role she continues to hold.
Merolo is admitted to practice in Florida and Arizona. She has been a member of the Florida State Bar since 2010. Her professional memberships include the Community Association Institute, which she joined in 2012, and two organizations tied to intellectual property law: The Copyright Society of the USA and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, both of which she joined in 2020. Those memberships reflect the range of matters that have appeared in her practice over the years.
Her work has blended aspects of community association issues and intellectual property concerns. She has handled matters typical of firm practice—client counseling, transactional work, and litigation—across those subject areas. Colleagues and clients have referred to her experience managing cases and coordinating teams on complex matters. She has also moved between associate and leadership roles, gaining experience in case handling and firm administration.
Outside of court filings and client meetings, Merolo’s background in justice studies and her law training continue to inform how she approaches problem solving. She draws on both academic grounding and hands-on practice when evaluating client positions and advising boards or businesses. The combination of state admissions and active organizational membership keeps her connected to developments in both community association law and intellectual property.
She currently practices at Carpenter, Hazlewood, Delgado & Bolen, LLP, where her work includes intellectual property and community association matters.
