About Karen
Karen Ensley is a Texas-licensed lawyer whose legal education began at Baylor Law School, where she earned her J.D. She entered the profession prepared to handle disputes and transactions that arise in construction and related trades. Her training at Baylor provided the practical and doctrinal foundation she draws on in daily practice.
Early in her career she worked on matters that brought her into regular contact with contractors, subcontractors and property owners. Over time those experiences steered her toward issues that affect the building trades: contract drafting and interpretation, lien and payment disputes, and regulatory questions that often show up on roofing jobs and construction projects. She represents business clients and individuals in matters rooted in Texas law.
She maintains memberships in several trade and professional organizations. Those include the National Association of Women in Construction (Fort Worth Chapter), the Association of Professional Women in Construction, the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association and the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. She also holds membership in the Texas Bar College. Her association memberships reflect an ongoing interest in the business and practical challenges faced by contractors and related service providers.
Ensley is a partner at Ensley Benitez Law, PC. In that role she handles pre-litigation counseling and courtroom matters. Her work routinely involves preparing and negotiating agreements, asserting and defending lien rights, and addressing contractor licensing and compliance questions. She represents clients in both transactional settings and adversarial proceedings.
Peers and clients describe her approach as straightforward. She favors clear contracts and early intervention to prevent disputes whenever possible. When disputes progress to litigation, she moves cases through the court system while keeping clients informed about legal options and likely outcomes.
Beyond firm work, she engages with industry groups through speaking and educational opportunities offered by the associations she belongs to. Those engagements usually center on practical legal topics for contractors and business owners rather than academic theory.
She is based in Texas and practices through Ensley Benitez Law, PC. Her current practice focuses on construction-related legal matters, including contract disputes, lien enforcement and regulatory issues affecting contractors and roofing professionals.
