About Kara
Kara Rockey earned her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 2021 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at McNeese State University in 2017. She arrived at law school having already shown an interest in legal process and client advocacy. Her academic record places her among a recent cohort of lawyers who entered practice in the early 2020s, a period marked by shifting courtroom procedures and the rising use of technology in casework.
After passing the necessary requirements to practice in Illinois, Rockey joined Levin & Perconti as an associate. The position put her in a busy firm environment where case preparation and courtroom readiness are daily priorities. Colleagues describe her work habits as methodical; she spends long hours drafting pleadings, preparing discovery requests and managing client communication.
Her career to date has followed a steady trajectory. Fresh from law school, she moved into civil practice and has built experience handling pretrial motions, discovery disputes and client interviews. She is a current member of the State Bar of Illinois, an affiliation that keeps her connected to local rules, ethics guidance and continuing legal education offerings. Membership also provides access to committees and practice groups that shape statewide practice standards.
Rockey’s daily work reflects a lawyer learning to balance case management with advocacy. She has developed familiarity with the procedural pace of Illinois courts and the expectations judges impose on counsel. That experience has required attention to detail, especially in drafting and filing time-sensitive documents. It has also demanded responsiveness to clients who seek clear explanations of complex legal steps.
Outside of court filings and client meetings, she has invested time in honing litigation support skills. That work includes preparing exhibits, coordinating with expert witnesses and compiling trial notebooks. Those tasks are essential in cases that move toward trial and in efforts to present fact patterns clearly to juries and judges.
Peers note that Rockey approaches each file as an individual matter. She evaluates factual records, identifies legal issues and maps out next steps. Her practice is rooted in fundamentals: careful research, organized case files and client communication that aims to manage expectations.
In her current role at Levin & Perconti she continues to expand her courtroom experience. Her current practice centers on representing clients in state court matters in Illinois.
