About Kara K.

Kara K. Goodman earned her law degree from Charlotte School of Law in 2009 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2005. Her academic background in psychology gave her early exposure to human behavior and family dynamics, subjects that would later intersect with her legal work.

After law school, Goodman moved into practice in North Carolina. In 2012 she worked at Cordell & Cordell, a firm known for handling domestic relations matters. That experience offered hands-on exposure to client advocacy and courtroom procedure. She later launched her own practice, The Goodman Law Office, PLLC, where she serves as founder and lawyer.

Goodman’s career path has combined courtroom experience with client-facing advocacy. She handles negotiations, filings and appearances on behalf of clients. Her time both in a larger firm setting and in private practice has shaped how she approaches case preparation and client communication. Colleagues describe her style as methodical and direct.

Her memberships reflect an ongoing involvement in the local legal community. She is an active member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association’s Family Law Section and holds membership in the North Carolina Bar Association. Participation in those organizations keeps her connected to state-level developments and local practice issues.

Clients who see Goodman can expect work on matters commonly grouped under family law. She addresses the procedural and emotional elements of cases, helping clients through negotiation and courtroom processes. Her undergraduate study in psychology informs how she listens to clients and evaluates family dynamics, while her legal training guides the application of statutory and case law.

As an attorney who established her own firm, Goodman manages both legal strategy and the daily operations of practice. Running a small firm requires attention to detail and an ability to set priorities when cases and administrative duties compete for time. That dual role has influenced how she organizes intake, client updates and courtroom preparation.

She continues to practice in North Carolina and maintains memberships in local and state bar groups. She currently practices family law at The Goodman Law Office, PLLC.
