About Justin Woods
Justin Woods Decker built his academic foundation at Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. He returned to ASU for law school and completed his Juris Doctor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2018. Those years on campus placed him in the middle of Phoenix's legal community during a period of steady growth and change.
Before and during law school, Decker sought practical experience inside government offices and courtrooms. In 2016 he served as an extern in the City of Tempe City Lawyer's Office, where he observed municipal legal work and the day-to-day tasks of local government counsel. The following year he worked as a law clerk for The Honorable Jay Polk at the Maricopa County Superior Court. That clerkship exposed him to the mechanics of trial practice, judicial decision-making and the procedural rhythm of a busy county bench.
After earning his JD, Decker joined The Golden Rule Law Group as a lawyer in 2018. He took on responsibilities common to early-career litigators and client attorneys: drafting pleadings, preparing motions, conducting discovery and appearing in hearings. The move into private practice marked a shift from observation and support roles to direct representation of clients in adversarial settings.
Decker holds membership in the State Bar of Arizona, active since 2018. He is licensed to practice in Arizona and has built his professional life around the state's courts. His prior clerkship gives him familiarity with local court procedures, and his municipal externship contributes an understanding of public-client issues that can arise at the local government level.
Colleagues describe Decker as methodical and attentive to procedural detail. He tends to approach matters by breaking them into discrete tasks, then addressing each one in sequence. That workmanlike style shows in case preparation, paperwork and courtroom presentations. He has steadily added courtroom time and client-contact experience since moving into practice full time.
Outside of formal roles, Decker's career follows a straightforward path: undergraduate studies in Arizona, law school in Phoenix, hands-on legal internships and a swift transition into practice. He remains based in Arizona and continues to work on matters for clients across the state's courts. He currently practices at The Golden Rule Law Group and focuses on representing clients in Arizona state courts.
