About Justin M.
Justin M. Kennedy earned his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2010. He completed a traditional law curriculum and entered the profession at a time when estate and probate issues were receiving renewed attention across California courts. The law school experience equipped him with technical training in estate planning and related subjects, and he has continued formal study in those areas since graduation.
After law school Kennedy became licensed to practice in California. He later pursued specialization credentials and is a certified Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law Legal Specialist through the State Bar of California. That certification signals that he has met the State Bar’s testing and experience standards for that area of law.
Professionally he has been active in organizations tied to estate planning and the local bar. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Estate Planning Lawyers, a designation he has held since 2011. He also maintains membership in the Silicon Valley Bar Association, another affiliation that began in 2011. Those roles have connected him to peers who handle complex trust and probate matters and have provided a forum for continuing legal education and peer review.
Kennedy practices at Litherland, Kennedy & Associates, APC. His work at the firm involves counseling individuals and families on the structuring of wills, trusts and related instruments. He also handles probate administration and the legal processes that follow a death when estate assets must be transferred. In client matters he prepares documents, advises on fiduciary duties and represents clients in court where necessary. The name on the firm reflects his involvement there, but his public profile centers on the estate planning and probate work that occupies most of his caseload.
Outside of casework he has participated in professional gatherings and educational programs tied to estate and trust law. Those activities have reinforced his practical approach to drafting and administration and have kept him current on statutory and procedural changes in California. He continues to accept matters involving wills, trusts, probate administration and closely related disputes. His current practice focuses on estate planning, trust and probate matters.
