About Justin Alan

Justin Alan Breithaupt took a conventional path into law but has moved steadily through private practice since earning his degree. He completed his undergraduate studies in political science at the University of Michigan in 2012. Four years later he received his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2016.

Fresh out of law school, Breithaupt joined Lennon, Miller, O Connor & Bartosiewicz, PLC as an associate. He spent his early years learning the routines of a small firm: drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and appearing for hearings. Those first cases provided practical courtroom exposure and a grounding in client work that shaped how he approaches matters today.

In 2021 he moved to Kopka Pinkus Dolin PC, again as an associate. The change brought a different caseload and new responsibilities. He handled a broader mix of matters and took on more direct client contact. Colleagues from that period describe a reliable practitioner who could be counted on to prepare thorough files and keep clients informed.

Since 2022 he has been at Herbert Machnik Law Office. His title there is listed simply as lawyer. The office has been his base while he continues to build a practice in Michigan. Over the last several years he has developed experience across the tasks that occupy a general-practice lawyer: client counseling, motion practice, negotiation and courtroom work. He combines the procedural familiarity gained at two earlier firms with the steadier client load of his current position.

Breithaupt is licensed to practice in Michigan. He remains involved in local professional circles and has maintained continuous membership in his professional association since 2016. That steady presence in the state bar community informs his work and keeps him connected to practice trends and procedural changes at the state level.

Outside the office he has maintained ties to the communities he served while at university and in private practice. He lives and works in Michigan and continues to accept cases through Herbert Machnik Law Office. He focuses his practice on serving clients and handling matters arising under Michigan law.
