About Brett A.
Brett A. Cummings took a circuitous path to the law. He began his undergraduate studies at Carthage College before transferring to Western Michigan University, where he completed a B.A. in business management, economics and international relations. He later earned his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, combining legal training with a background in business and global affairs.
After law school, Cummings entered practice in Michigan. His early experience includes time at Willis Law beginning in 2012, where he worked as a lawyer and gained exposure to the everyday demands of client representation. That period helped him transition from academic study to courtroom practice and client counseling. He has remained active in professional circles since that time, maintaining association memberships that date back to 2012 and continue into the present.
Cummings’ academic background informs how he approaches cases. The combination of business and economics coursework gives him a framework for assessing disputes that touch on commercial relationships. His study of international relations adds context when cross-border elements arise. He does not rely on titles or accolades to define his work; he focuses on understanding the facts and the legal rules that apply.
He practices in Michigan and has held office locations associated with Keilen Law. His work is practical in tone. Cummings handles the procedural and substantive tasks that help move matters forward, from drafting pleadings to preparing for hearings. Colleagues and clients see him as someone who attends to detail and seeks clear, enforceable outcomes rather than grand gestures.
Outside the courtroom, Cummings has stayed connected to the legal community through ongoing association membership. Those ties provide a source of continuing education and professional dialogue. He balances that involvement with the day-to-day responsibilities of running files, meeting deadlines and responding to clients’ questions.
Cummings currently practices law in Michigan and maintains an office associated with Keilen Law. He focuses his current practice on serving clients in matters arising under Michigan law.
