About Julie
Julie Rendelman studied at Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.A. in 1989, and later received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. Her academic path combined a liberal arts foundation with professional legal training in New York, setting the stage for a career spent largely in criminal law and litigation.
She began working in the Kings County District Attorney's Office in 1993 as an assistant district lawyer. That early experience in a busy borough prosecutor's office exposed her to courtroom work, witness preparation and the pressures of criminal trials. The work there provided practical lessons about the justice system that have informed her practice ever since.
Rendelman moved into private practice and in 2014 became the managing partner of The Law Offices of Julie Rendelman, LLC. Under her leadership the firm has handled trial and appellate matters. She is admitted to practice in New York and is authorized to appear before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits. Her caseload includes criminal defense and appeals, and she handles both trial-level representation and appellate briefing.
Outside of casework she has maintained ties to legal education. In 2012 she served as an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School, teaching students while continuing to practice. She also volunteers with New York Cares, an organization she has supported since 2014, and holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Her professional memberships reflect a steady involvement in the criminal defense bar. She has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2015 and joined the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2018. Since 2014 she has been active with the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, serving on its Criminal Court Committee. Those memberships provide ongoing opportunities for continuing legal education and interaction with peers across jurisdictions.
Rendelman's résumé is a mix of public-sector experience, private practice management and occasional teaching. She emphasizes courtroom preparation, appellate procedure and client counseling. Her office operates under the name The Law Offices of Julie Rendelman, LLC. She currently represents individuals in criminal matters and handles appeals in state and federal courts.
