About Julia
Julia Williams began her path to law after earning a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in 2003. She built on that foundation at the University of Maine School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2008. Those years shaped how she approaches legal work: methodical, attentive to detail and practical in outcome.
After law school, Williams took the steps required to practice in Illinois. She is admitted to the Illinois bar and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions have allowed her to work on matters in both state and federal forums, and they inform the range of matters she handles today.
Her professional affiliation is listed as Of Counsel at The Clinton Law Office. In that role she provides legal advice and support on a variety of matters handled by the firm. The title reflects senior experience and a role that straddles hands-on client work and strategic guidance for litigation and case preparation.
Williams maintains active memberships in several professional organizations. She holds current memberships in the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and the Alliance for Women. Participation in these groups keeps her engaged with developments in practice, continuing education opportunities and the professional community in Chicago and across Illinois.
Colleagues describe her approach as straightforward and pragmatic. She prefers clear communication with clients and practical problem-solving in the courthouse and at the negotiation table. Her courtroom work and counseling tend to emphasize careful preparation and clarity in presenting issues to judges and opposing counsel.
Outside the courtroom she balances casework with the responsibilities that come from working in a firm environment. Her Of Counsel status means she often steps into complex matters where experience and a steady hand are needed. She is known inside the office for steady legal judgment and the ability to help guide case strategy.
Williams continues to practice in Illinois and in the federal system where she is admitted. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in Illinois courts and at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
