About Joshua W

Joshua W. Goodman built his legal foundation in the Southeast. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, then went on to receive his J.D. from Charlotte School of Law. Those academic years set the stage for a practice rooted in local courts and bar associations.

He has practiced in North Carolina for more than a decade. In 2013 he began working at Fisher Law Group PLLC. Over the years his involvement in county and state bar groups has been a steady part of his professional life. He joined the Mecklenburg County Bar in 2012 and became active in several of its sections shortly after. He served as Vice-Chair of the Mecklenburg County Bar Solo/Small Firm Section from 2014 to 2015 and has been Chair of that same section since 2015. His service in these roles has kept him closely connected to the concerns of solo practitioners and small firm attorneys.

Goodman’s association list is long and consistent. He is a member of the American Bar Association since 2009 and joined the North Carolina State Bar Association and the Mecklenburg County Bar in 2012. He became involved with the Mecklenburg County Bar Family Law Section in 2013 and joined North Carolina Advocates for Justice in 2014. The memberships indicate a professional life spent participating in peer groups, attending continuing legal education, and engaging in local legal communities.

Colleagues describe his trajectory as steady rather than flashy. He has built experience handling matters typical to a small firm environment while maintaining ties to family law practice through the county’s Family Law Section. His leadership in the Solo/Small Firm Section suggests he is attentive to the business and practice-management issues that affect small offices and solo lawyers.

When he speaks at bar meetings or chairs a section, he brings practical insights from daily practice. He has navigated the administrative and collegial side of the profession as well as the courtroom-adjacent work that small firms often perform. That blend of administrative and case work has defined his professional profile in Mecklenburg County and beyond.

As of 2026 he practices at Fisher Law Group PLLC in North Carolina, where his work centers on family law matters and issues common to solo and small-firm practice.
