About Joshua

Joshua Silverman built his path to law in a steady, conventional arc. He graduated from Steward School in 1986 and went on to earn a B.A. in International Studies from American University in 1991. He completed his legal training at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1995.

Soon after law school he established ties to Virginia’s legal community. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and was a member of Williamson & Lavecchia, L.C. in 1998. That early work placed him in firm settings where courtroom work and client representation were central parts of the job.

Those courtroom connections deepened through his long-term involvement with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He joined the association’s Board of Governors in 2003 and has remained an active member since then. Serving on the board has kept him in close contact with colleagues across the state and with developments in trial practice. It has also provided a platform for professional exchange and for shaping association activities over many years.

Colleagues describe him as a practitioner who prefers the concrete tasks of case preparation and court work to public fanfare. He has handled matters that require litigation skills and the logistics of bringing cases to trial. He approaches each file with attention to the factual record and procedural detail. The emphasis is on effective representation rather than headline-making claims.

Outside the courtroom his background in international studies occasionally informs client matters that touch on cross-border issues, though most of his work remains rooted in local law and practice. Education and long service in state professional organizations guide his professional outlook. He has stayed current on rules and trends through continuing legal education and peer involvement.

After more than two decades in practice, he remains active in Virginia’s legal community. He balances trial work with the responsibilities of professional association service. He currently focuses on representing clients in Virginia courts.
