About Joshua David
Joshua David Miller built a practice that combines courtroom work and client counsel across two states. He studied history and political science at Tulane University before earning a law degree at Loyola University New Orleans. At Loyola he took courses in criminal law and family law, areas that would shape his early career.
After law school he cut his teeth in public service. In 2008 he worked as an intern with the Belknap County District Lawyer, handling intake and observing arraignments. A few years later he struck out on his own. In 2012 he opened the Law Office of Joshua D Miller. That venture led to a partnership four years later. In 2016 he became managing partner at Miller & Brooks, PLLC, a role that added managerial responsibilities to his caseload.
Miller is licensed to practice in New Hampshire and Tennessee. He maintains memberships in a number of bar organizations. He joined the New Hampshire Bar Association in 2011 and the Tennessee Bar Association in 2012. He has been part of the Nashville Bar Association since 2013 and joined the Maury County Bar Association in 2015. He is also a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and, since 2017, the American Bar Association. Those memberships reflect ongoing ties to both local and statewide legal communities.
His work centers on criminal defense and family law. Early exposure to criminal dockets and family court matters helped shape his practice priorities. Over time he has handled cases at different stages, from pretrial work and plea negotiations to hearings and trials. He has also advised clients on family-related disputes that touch on criminal issues, such as domestic matters that intersect with criminal charges.
Colleagues describe Miller as a practitioner who balances courtroom readiness with client counseling. He has run a small firm and helped manage a multi-attorney office, experience that informs how he structures client communication and case strategy. He continues to appear in state trial courts and to handle pretrial motions and hearings across the jurisdictions where he is licensed.
As a lawyer working in two states, he draws on experiences from both New Hampshire and Tennessee courts. He maintains a private practice through the Law Office of Joshua D. Miller and through his role at Miller & Brooks, PLLC. He currently handles criminal defense and family law matters in Tennessee and New Hampshire.
