About Joshua Adam
Joshua Adam Davis began his professional life in the laboratory before moving into the courtroom. He combined scientific training and legal education into a practice that sits at the intersection of technology, patents and litigation. He now runs a small practice that serves clients on intellectual property matters and technology transactions.
Davis earned a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in 1999. He continued his scientific work at The Scripps Research Institute, completing studies in Molecular & Cellular Structure & Chemistry in 2002. He later turned to law, receiving his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2006, where his studies emphasized intellectual property, litigation and technology commercialization.
His first legal role after law school was as an associate at Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto (now part of Venable LLP) in 2006. That position placed him in the middle of contested patent matters and counseling projects for technology clients. He moved into of-counsel work in intellectual property litigation at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP in 2016, handling disputes that required both technical knowledge and courtroom discipline.
In 2018 Davis returned to practice under his own name, operating as the Law Office of Joshua A. Davis. A year later he took on an in-house role as general counsel and chief operations officer for Mega Aid Pharmacy. The corporate post broadened his perspective on compliance, regulatory issues and the operational needs of a regulated business. He resumed private practice leadership in 2020 as managing lawyer at the Law Office of Joshua A Davis and later established JDTechLaw LLC, where he maintains an office.
Davis is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and is registered to practice in patent matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also licensed in New York and Georgia. He has been a member of the New York State Bar since 2007 and held membership in the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society from 2016 to 2018. Those memberships reflect a hybrid career that bridges technical regulation and intellectual property law.
In practice he handles patent prosecution and counseling, IP litigation, and transactions that touch on technology commercialization. He draws on scientific training when assessing inventions and on litigation experience when designing enforcement strategies. He currently practices through JDTechLaw LLC and represents clients in matters involving patents, trademarks, and technology-related agreements.
