About Joshua A.

Joshua A. Katz brings a measured, academic background to his work at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC. He earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2004 after completing both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995 and 1997. Those years of historical study inform the way he reads documents and constructs arguments. They also taught him to look for context and continuity in complex matters.

Katz built his legal career in Florida. He is admitted to the Florida bar and to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He is a current member of The Florida Bar. Over time he has moved into a role that combines litigation experience with advisory work. Colleagues describe him as steady and analytical in the courtroom and methodical in preparation.

His path led him to serve as Of Counsel at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC. In that position he consults on cases and supports trial teams. He works with attorneys across the firm to develop case strategy, prepare filings and handle hearings in both state and federal venues. The title reflects a senior advisory position rather than a management role. It allows him to remain engaged in litigation while offering targeted assistance where it is needed.

Katz’s academic background in history shows through in his written advocacy. He pays attention to chronology and to how individual facts fit into a larger narrative. That approach can be useful when a case turns on a sequence of events or on documentary records. He also draws on his years in Florida practice to navigate procedural and evidentiary issues that arise in both trial courts and the Southern District of Florida.

Outside of court, he participates in bar activities and remains connected to professional circles through The Florida Bar. He keeps current on developments in federal and state procedure that affect the firm’s litigation practice. He currently practices as Of Counsel at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC, representing clients in matters before Florida state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
