About Joseph S.
Joseph S. Stephan graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2020. He completed the Juris Doctor program during a time of shifting legal practice, finishing law school as courts and firms adapted to new demands. The diploma anchored an entry into Maryland’s legal community that has been steady since.
After law school Mr. Stephan began his legal career in Maryland. He joined Silverman Thompson as an associate. In that role he moved quickly into the day-to-day work of a litigation-focused firm: preparing filings, researching precedent, and supporting trial teams. He built experience across case intake, discovery, and motion practice while learning to manage competing deadlines.
Mr. Stephan is licensed to practice in Maryland and maintains membership in the Baltimore County Bar Association. He attends the association’s events and seminars. That local involvement keeps him connected to developments in county courts and to fellow practitioners.
Colleagues describe him as practical in approach. He spends much of his time on written advocacy and client correspondence. Drafting pleadings, preparing affidavits, and assembling evidentiary materials are routine parts of his workload. He also contributes to strategy sessions and witness preparation when cases head toward trial. His assignments have included both research-intensive tasks and hands-on courtroom support.
Outside the office he follows changes in statutory law and appellate decisions that affect his clients. He reads opinions and practice guides rather than relying on summaries. That habit informs the work he does at the firm and the advice he delivers to clients.
At Silverman Thompson Mr. Stephan works as part of a team that handles a range of matters for businesses and individuals. His role is that of an associate who assists on cases from intake through resolution. He continues to develop his courtroom skills while managing a growing docket of client matters.
He currently practices at Silverman Thompson, where he handles litigation-related tasks and client representation on matters in Maryland.
