About Joseph R.

Joseph R. Curcio built a legal practice in the years after World War II and kept it going for decades. He set down roots in Illinois law early and has long been associated with the same firm name he established in the late 1950s.

Curcio studied history and political science at DePaul University before turning to law. He earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 1955, entering the legal profession at a time of rapid change in the courts and in civic life.

Soon after finishing law school he became active in professional life. He took on membership in a legal association in 1956 and retained that membership into the present day. Those early affiliations helped him establish contacts and a local reputation that would sustain a small firm practice.

In 1957 he founded Curcio Law Offices and assumed the role of managing lawyer. The office was a small operation at first. Over time it provided a steady local presence for clients seeking representation in state matters. Curcio has overseen the firm's work, handling the practical demands of day-to-day practice while steering its longer-term direction.

His work has been centered in Illinois. He handled matters that commonly come through state courts and municipal offices, often representing individuals and local businesses. He handled trials, negotiated settlements and worked on transactional matters when clients needed counsel outside the courtroom. That mix is typical of a private practice that serves a local clientele rather than a narrow specialty practice.

Colleagues and clients have noted his familiarity with the local legal environment and its procedures. He maintained professional ties through decades, attending bar gatherings and remaining present in community legal circles. The continuity of his career — law school in the mid-1950s, firm founding in 1957, ongoing practice through subsequent decades — marks a sustained professional life rather than a brief stint.

Today Curcio continues to practice law in Illinois through Curcio Law Offices, overseeing the firm's work for clients in the state.
