About Joseph H.

Joseph H. Ostad took a nontraditional route to law, studying government and politics before earning his juris doctor. He completed a master’s degree in Government & Politics at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1987, after finishing his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland in 1985. He then attended Saint Louis University School of Law and received his J.D. in 1990.

He entered legal practice in 1991. Early in his career he established a practice under his own name and has maintained a presence in Maryland’s legal community since. His admissions include the Maryland bar and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, enabling him to handle matters in both state and federal courts.

Colleagues and local bar organizations see him as a steady presence. He holds memberships in the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association. Those memberships connect him to trial practice resources and to fellow lawyers across the state. Over the years he has worked on matters that required courtroom work and filings in federal court, reflecting his dual admissions.

The arc of Ostad’s career is rooted in courtroom practice. While specific case records are not listed here, his bar and court admissions point to a practice that handles contested litigation. He has been listed simply as a lawyer since 1991, a fact that underscores a long tenure in practice rather than a brief stint.

Clients and other lawyers who have crossed paths with him describe someone who knows Maryland’s courts and procedures. He maintains an office under his own name, where he manages casework, client intake and court appearances. The practice structure is straightforward: a sole practitioner model that makes him directly accessible to clients and to opposing counsel.

He continues to be active in professional circles in Baltimore and statewide. His bar memberships keep him connected to changes in court rules, state statutes and trial practice techniques. Those connections also provide a channel for referrals and collaboration when cases require additional expertise.

Today he practices law in Maryland and appears in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, handling matters appropriate to his admissions and experience.
