About Jose A.
Jose A. Ceja studied journalism at the University of Arizona before turning to law. He earned his J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2007. Those years shaped how he approaches cases: a reporter’s attention to detail and a lawyer’s eye for procedure.
Ceja began his legal career in public service. In 2008 he joined the Cochise County Lawyer’s Office as a prosecutor. That work put him in court frequently and gave him direct exposure to criminal case preparation and trial practice. After moving into private practice he served as an associate at Scheiner Law Group, P.C. in 2010, where he handled criminal matters on behalf of clients in state courts.
He established Ceja Law Office in 2018 and serves as its owner and managing lawyer. The firm operates under the name Ceja Law Office PLLC. As managing lawyer he has overseen case strategy, client intake, and interactions with courts in two jurisdictions. He is licensed in Arizona and Texas and maintains active memberships in the state bars of both jurisdictions.
Outside the courtroom he has remained engaged in professional organizations. He belongs to the National College for DUI Defense and holds memberships in the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. He has been active in the Houston Young Lawyers Association and has served as treasurer for Project Union since 2011. He also participates in the Comanche Club, an affiliation he joined in 2012. These affiliations reflect long-standing ties to the criminal defense community and to local legal groups in Texas and Arizona.
Colleagues describe him as practical and methodical. His background as a prosecutor informs how he approaches defense work; he understands the rhythms of trial preparation from both sides. He has worked in courtrooms across Arizona and Texas and has experience handling pretrial motions, plea negotiations, and jury trials.
Clients come to Ceja Law Office PLLC for representation in criminal matters, including driving-under-the-influence cases and other state-level charges. He continues to balance casework with firm management and professional involvement in organizations connected to criminal defense. He currently practices at Ceja Law Office PLLC, handling criminal defense and DUI cases.
