About Jonathan Thomas

Jonathan Thomas Nessler trained at the University of Illinois and stayed close to that academic home for law school. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Environmental Communications and Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and later returned to the University of Illinois College of Law, where he completed his Juris Doctor in 2007. Those years shaped an interest in issues that touch both rural communities and the courts.

After law school he joined legal circles in Illinois and has maintained professional ties across the state. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. He also belongs to the Illinois Trial Lawyers’ Association, where he participates in meetings and continuing education alongside other trial attorneys.

Nessler has been active in the Lincoln–Douglas American Inn of Court for more than a decade. He holds the rank of Barrister there, a role he has carried since 2011. That long association places him in a network that emphasizes trial craft, mentoring and ethical practice. It also provides a steady forum for courtroom technique and peer review.

Much of his professional life is tied to a single firm. He practices at The Law Offices of Frederick W. Nessler & Associates, Ltd. That firm appears as his principal office location in public records. He has listed the firm in multiple office entries, indicating a consistent base for his client work and courtroom appearances.

Colleagues describe him as steady in court and thorough in preparation. He has taken depositions, argued motions and participated in jury trials. He handles matters that require attention to procedural detail as well as the ability to tell a client's story to a judge or jury. His work often intersects with issues that affect individuals and families in Illinois.

Outside formal practice, Nessler's long-term membership in local and statewide legal organizations keeps him engaged in evolving law and trial practice. He appears regularly at association events and contributes to discussions on litigation strategy and professional responsibility.

He continues to maintain his Illinois license and practices from the offices of The Law Offices of Frederick W. Nessler & Associates, Ltd. His current practice centers on civil litigation matters in Illinois state courts.
