About Jonathan L.

Jonathan L. Phillips built his path to the law from two different classrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2003 and completed his J.D. at Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law in 2008. Those academic stops gave him both technical grounding and formal legal training.

Early in his career he settled into the Virginia legal community. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and is authorized to appear before the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has maintained membership in the Fairfax Bar Association since 2008, participating in local bar activities and programs that serve the Northern Virginia bench and bar.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in the courtroom and deliberate in preparation. He draws on his undergraduate studies in business information technology when legal matters touch on technical or commercial elements. That background informs how he approaches complex filings, motions and appellate briefs.

His work spans state and federal settings. The ability to appear before federal appellate courts and the nation’s highest court has shaped his practice into one that routinely addresses procedural and substantive issues at multiple levels. He has experience drafting appellate briefs, presenting oral argument and handling filings required by federal appellate procedure.

Outside court dockets he is active in firm life and local legal circles. He has been listed as a member of the Fairfax Bar Association since 2008, a sign of longstanding ties to the region’s legal infrastructure. He has also been associated with other professional groups over the years.

Phillips practices at LefflerPhillips PLC, where he applies his combined legal and technical background to cases that cut across state and federal lines. He continues to represent clients in litigation and appellate matters, appearing in both Virginia courts and before federal appellate tribunals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He currently practices at LefflerPhillips PLC, handling matters that include federal appellate work and state-level litigation.
