About Jonathan J.

Jonathan J. Goldberg graduated from The George Washington University Law School with a J.D. in 1988 after earning a B.B.A. from the same institution in 1985. He arrived in the capital at a moment when litigation and public law were both in flux. Those formative years at GW shaped the legal approach he uses today: methodical, court-oriented, and practical.

He practices at Goldberg & Goldberg. Over the years he has built a practice that regularly appears in both trial and appellate settings. His work has taken him from courtroom benches in the District of Columbia to federal courthouses in Maryland. He represents clients in contested proceedings and handles the drafting and briefing that precede trial work.

Goldberg is admitted to a range of courts. They include the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Those admissions allow him to handle matters at trial and on appeal in both federal and state systems.

He remains active in the trial bar community. He holds memberships in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. He is also a member of The Bar Association of the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Montgomery County Maryland, and the Maryland Association for Justice. Those affiliations reflect ongoing ties to peers in both jurisdictions where he practices.

His practice covers civil litigation that reaches trial and appellate courts. He prepares pleadings, argues motions, and tries cases when matters proceed to jury or bench trial. On appeal, he handles briefing and oral argument. He often manages multi-stage litigation that requires coordination across different courts and levels of review.

He continues to practice at Goldberg & Goldberg, representing clients in litigation in the District of Columbia and Maryland, including trial and appellate work.
