About Jonathan D. Herpy
Jonathan D. Herpy Sr. studied psychology as an undergraduate and went on to earn his law degree before entering practice. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at Washington & Jefferson College in 2009 and received a J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2012. Those academic years shaped his approach to client work and the practice of law.
He has practiced in Illinois and has been part of Hart David Carson, LLP since 2012, serving as a shareholder. Early in his career he moved into firm leadership rather than remaining solely an associate. That transition gave him responsibility for case strategy, file management, and mentoring junior lawyers.
Herpy maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He participates in those groups to stay current on changes in law and procedure, and to engage with peers across practice areas.

He supervises case teams and reviews pleadings and motions before filing.
Outside of court appearances he devotes time to legal research and drafting. Those activities support the work he does when matters advance toward trial or when complex motions are required. He also supports newer attorneys at the firm by reviewing their work and offering feedback on trial preparation techniques.
He practices law in Illinois at Hart David Carson, LLP, where his current practice concentrates on litigation, client representation in contested matters, and courtroom advocacy.
