About Jonathan A.

Jonathan A. Martin built a foundation in the liberal arts before turning to law. He earned both a B.S. in Political Science and a B.A. in Religious Studies from Stetson University in 2004. He then completed his legal education at Liberty University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2007.

His early career blended local bar activity and court work. He has been active in the Hendry/Glades Bar Association since 2008 and served as its president; that role put him in regular contact with judges and local practitioners on procedural and practice issues. He joined the Federalist Society in 2005 while still in law school and later became a member of both the Florida Justice Association and the Lee County Bar Association in 2015. Those memberships reflect long-standing engagement with both statewide and local professional communities.

Martin’s practice has largely centered in Florida courts. Over time he handled matters across civil practice areas that are common in regional firms: courtroom litigation, pretrial motion practice and client counseling on procedural strategy. He developed experience in case preparation and hearings, and in working with local court rules and magistrates. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and practical in court presentations.

His work at the county level included organizing continuing legal education and coordinating bar events while president of the Hendry/Glades Bar Association. Those responsibilities required balancing administrative tasks with the needs of small-firm and solo practitioners in a rural setting. He also maintained active participation in professional groups that bring together lawyers with differing perspectives, including the Federalist Society and the Florida Justice Association.

Longer engagements often required marshaling documentary evidence and preparing witnesses for testimony. He spent substantial time on dispositive motions and settlement negotiations when cases did not proceed to trial. On brief, he emphasized factual clarity and adherence to statutory deadlines. In oral argument he focused on concise presentation and anticipating counter-arguments from opposing counsel.

Outside the courtroom, Martin has engaged in local bar governance and event planning. That administrative side of practice has been a recurring part of his professional life since the late 2000s. He remains licensed in Florida and maintains memberships in multiple state and local bar organizations. He currently practices law in Florida, concentrating on civil litigation and related courtroom matters.
