About John
John Waldman earned his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1988 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science and paralegal studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1985. He entered the legal profession at the end of the 1980s, joining a generation of lawyers trained in traditional courtroom practice and local civil litigation. The educational path he followed combined a grounding in political theory with practical paralegal training, a background that has informed his approach to case preparation and courtroom procedure.
Waldman began an association with Kanoski & Bresney in 1994, taking on responsibilities as a lawyer within the firm. Over the subsequent decades he has remained associated with the same firm, practicing under the Kanoski Bresney name across multiple central Illinois locations. His long tenure at one firm has included work in environments that range from neighborhood courthouses to federal courtrooms, and it has given him familiarity with regional judicial procedures and local legal networks.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in both state and federal forums. The combination of state and federal practice often requires attention to differing procedural rules and an ability to prepare cases for varied settings. Waldman’s career reflects sustained courtroom practice and ongoing engagement with litigation matters.
Professional ties extend beyond his firm. He is a current member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. That membership places him among a community of litigators who regularly exchange information about trial strategies, evidentiary developments and changes in civil procedure. Participation in that association signals an interest in trial work and continuing legal education relevant to litigation.
Kanoski Bresney maintains offices in a number of central Illinois cities, and Waldman has practiced out of the firm’s Pekin, Springfield, Bloomington, Rushville, Champaign, Quincy, Macomb and Decatur locations. Working across multiple offices has meant handling matters for clients in both smaller communities and larger regional centers. It has also required adapting advocacy to the expectations of several different courts and judges.
After more than three decades in practice, Waldman remains an active lawyer at Kanoski Bresney. He continues to represent clients in state and federal courts and to do trial work across the firm’s central Illinois offices. His current practice focuses on litigation and courtroom representation.
