About Dale

Dale Thomas built his legal foundation in Chicago classrooms and federal courtrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in business and political science from North Park University and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 1986. The early sweep of his résumé mixes union governance, courtroom work and time inside national law enforcement.

While still early in his career, Thomas served as a district vice-president on the governing board of United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 881 in Oak Brook. That role came before and alongside his legal studies. In 1986 he held a spring legal internship with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union in Washington, D.C., and then took a federal clerkship. He was a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge William S. Sessions in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division.

The clerkship led to a brief period in Washington. In 1987 Thomas worked as a special assistant to William S. Sessions during Sessions’s tenure as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The move put him inside the federal justice system at a high administrative level, exposing him to enforcement practices and national security matters that shaped his approach to public service.

By 1989 Thomas had returned to Illinois and joined the Peoria County State’s Lawyer’s Office as a felony assistant state’s lawyer. In that prosecutorial role he handled serious criminal matters on behalf of the state. The combination of clerkship experience, a federal assignment and county-level prosecution gave him practical perspective on how cases move from investigation to indictment and through trial.

Thomas is admitted to practice in Illinois. Over the years he has moved between public roles and private practice while maintaining ties to legal and civic organizations. His trajectory is one that combines courtroom procedure, government service and institutional knowledge from both union and federal environments.

Today he operates under the name Dale Thomas, Lawyer. He draws on earlier prosecutorial work and federal experience when advising clients and representing them in legal proceedings. His current practice focuses on legal matters arising in Illinois.
