About John W.
John W. Mann earned his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law. He completed the J.D. program and then moved into practice in Utah. His legal education laid a foundation in litigation and transactional work that he has applied to matters arising in the construction and real estate sectors.
Mann’s early years in practice included both courtroom work and contract drafting. He developed practical experience advising owners, contractors and property managers. That hands-on work gave him a steady familiarity with the kinds of disputes that arise on job sites and in lease portfolios. Over time he broadened that experience to include counseling clients before conflicts became formal claims.
Peers and clients recognize Mann for his role inside the bar. He currently serves as chairman of the Construction Section of the Utah State Bar. In that capacity he organizes panels, helps set agendas for professional programming and contributes to discussion about standards that affect construction practitioners across the state. He also holds membership in the American Bar Association, which keeps him connected to national developments in practice and procedure.
Mann maintains ties to industry organizations outside the bar. He is a member of AGC of Utah, the industry group representing general contractors, and of the Utah Apartment Association, which represents owners and managers of rental housing. Those affiliations inform his work on contract allocation of risk, lien rights, warranty questions and landlord-tenant matters. They also provide him regular opportunities to consult with business leaders about operational and compliance issues that carry legal implications.
He is part of the team at Fetzer Simonsen Booth & Jenkins, P.C., where he works alongside other attorneys who handle matters for construction firms, developers and property owners. At the firm he routinely handles transactional documents, advises on regulatory and compliance concerns and assists in resolving claims short of litigation as well as through contested proceedings when necessary. His approach emphasizes practical solutions suited to business realities.
Outside of formal memberships, Mann participates in continuing legal education and speaks at industry events when invited. He balances professional activity with steady practice responsibilities at his firm. He currently practices in Utah, representing clients in construction and real estate matters.
