About John W.
John W. Crow is an attorney admitted to practice in Kentucky and Tennessee. He trained in history and law, earning a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2006 and a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2009. Those academic years shaped the research and writing skills he uses in client matters today.
Crow’s early work included a 2005 press internship for Senator Lamar Alexander, an experience that exposed him to legislative processes and public communications. He clerked at Smith & Pace, P.C. in 2008, handling research and drafting assignments that are typical for a law clerk. After law school he joined Batson Nolan, PLC as a partner in 2009, a role listed among his early professional experiences.
In 2019 Crow established his own firm, Crow Estate Planning and Probate, PLC. The firm’s founding marked a shift from larger-firm practice to a smaller, client-centered operation. He has run the practice since then, building its offerings around documents and proceedings that individuals and families commonly need when planning for the future or managing an estate after a death.
His practice concentrates on estate planning and probate matters. He drafts wills, prepares trusts, and works through probate administration. He also assists clients with powers of attorney and advance directives. In probate cases he handles estate inventories, creditor notices, and court filings. He represents both individuals planning ahead and personal representatives administering estates.
Outside of client files, Crow has been active in professional groups related to his work. He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Middle Tennessee, where he has held membership since 2019. He joined the National Association of Independent Financial Advisors in 2017. He also maintains membership in the Tennessee Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association, both since 2009. These affiliations keep him connected to developments in estate law and local practice norms.
Colleagues describe his approach as straightforward and practical; his writing and courtroom work reflect the legal training he received in law school and early clerkships. He handles matters that require careful document drafting and patient administration. He maintains offices under the name Crow Estate Planning and Probate and accepts matters in both Tennessee and Kentucky.
His current practice centers on estate planning and probate.
