About John T.
John T. Marshall built a legal foundation that blends finance, tax study and courtroom training. He earned a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from Liberty University in 1996. He then returned to school at the University of Akron, completing an M.A. in Taxation in 2005 and a J.D. in 2006. That combination of tax and law training has informed much of his work since.
Marshall began his legal career the year he graduated law school. In 2006 he joined Fleet, Spencer & Kilpatrick, P.A., where he handled matters typical of an early-career lawyer and learned firm-based practice. He moved back into private practice settings over the following decade, taking roles at Resch and Root, LLC in 2013 and Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A. in 2014. Those positions exposed him to both litigation and transactional work across multiple areas.
In 2018 Marshall opened his own firm, Marshall Law P.A., and has operated as a sole practitioner since. Running a small firm shifted the balance of his work. He now manages client intake, case strategy and the business functions of the office. The move to a solo practice allowed him to shape the services he provides and the way he delivers them.
Marshall practices in both Ohio and Florida. He has maintained professional memberships through the years, including the Ohio State Bar Association since 2012 and the Lake County Bar Association since 2014. Earlier in his career he served on the board of the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center from 2008 to 2012, a role that placed him in a nonlegal leadership capacity supporting child welfare work in the community.
Colleagues describe his path as steady and conventional: law school, entry-level firm roles, a period at regional practices, then independent practice. That arc has given him experience on both sides of firm management and client representation. His academic background in taxation informs how he approaches certain cases, and his finance training provides added context for business-related matters.
Marshall’s current practice operates under the name Marshall Law P.A. He works from his firm office and handles matters for individuals and businesses across his admitted jurisdictions. His practice centers on tax-related issues, business and commercial matters, and litigation arising from those areas.
