About John R.
John R. Strohmeyer began his academic life in the sciences. He earned a B.S. in zoology from the University of Texas at Austin. He moved into law after that, completing a J.D. at The University of Texas School of Law and then an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law. The additional tax training rounds out a legal education that spans both state and federal tax issues as well as estate planning and probate concerns.
He entered practice in the early 2010s and worked through a series of associate roles at Texas law firms. His first listed position was as an associate at Schurig Jetel Beckett Tackett in 2010. He then served as an associate at Morgan Adler in 2012 and at Porter Hedges LLP in 2013. In 2015 he joined Crady, Jewett, McCulley, & Houren LLP. In 2018 he established his own practice and has operated Strohmeyer Law PLLC as proprietor since then.
Along the way he sought formal recognition of his areas of specialization. He is board certified in Tax Law and in Estate Planning & Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Those certifications signal a sustained practice in those fields and a body of work examined by his peers and by the certifying body.
Strohmeyer’s work spans several related areas. He handles tax planning and controversy matters, drafts and administers estate plans, and navigates probate proceedings. His tax LL.M. informs work on complex federal and state tax questions. The combination of tax and estate credentials allows him to advise clients on how tax rules affect wealth transfer and estate administration.
Colleagues describe Strohmeyer as methodical and detail-oriented; those traits suit the technical demands of tax and probate work. He has developed a practice that serves individuals, families and closely held businesses. He advises on estate and gift tax issues, fiduciary duties and the mechanics of probate administration.
He is admitted to practice in Texas and is active in professional circles that address tax and estate matters. He maintains a small firm presence in Texas, where he manages client relationships and the day-to-day practice of law. He concentrates his practice on tax law, estate planning and probate.
