About John
John Mulcahey earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1994 after completing both a B.A. (1989) and an M.A. (1991) at the University of Scranton. He served on the Duquesne Law Review during law school and held the role of Executive Editor, an early marker of his interest in legal analysis and written advocacy.
His career path includes a position at Munley Law beginning in 2014. Over the years he has taken cases into federal court and argued matters before the Third Circuit, holding admissions to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, in addition to Pennsylvania state courts.
Mulcahey’s professional life blends courtroom work and community involvement. He has been active in local and national bar organizations, including the Lackawanna County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of groups oriented toward trial practice, such as the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. Outside the bar, he served on the board of the Scranton Club from 2005 to 2009 and was its president from 2009 to 2011.
Certifications form a distinct part of his résumé. He holds Board Certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy in both Civil Pre-Trial Advocacy and Civil Trial Advocacy. Those credentials indicate formal recognition of courtroom and pre-trial skills under the NBTA’s standards. They inform the kind of work he takes and how colleagues and clients may evaluate his trial capabilities.
Mulcahey’s record shows steady engagement in professional organizations and sustained courtroom practice. His editorial role at Duquesne Law Review and subsequent bar memberships point to an attorney comfortable with both legal writing and courtroom presentation. He currently practices at Munley Law, handling civil pre-trial and trial matters.
