About John (Hyungsoo)

John (Hyungsoo) Ahn combines a formal science education with legal training. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Riverside in 2009 after beginning undergraduate studies in 2005. He then attended Pepperdine University School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2014. Those two degrees shape how he approaches technical legal questions and client counseling.

After law school Ahn moved into work that intersects technology and law. He is admitted to practice in California and is a registered patent lawyer. That registration reflects his engagement with intellectual property matters that require understanding of both legal standards and scientific detail. He handles the procedural and substantive work that patent filings and related issues demand.

Colleagues describe Ahn as methodical in managing complex submissions and careful in framing technical descriptions for legal use. His training in biology gives him an ability to read scientific disclosures and translate them into the language patent offices require. He applies that perspective to prosecution and other patent-related tasks, aiming to align technical disclosure with legal claim drafting and office action responses.

Ahn has been active in the San Diego legal community for several years. He joined the San Diego County Bar Association in 2016 and maintains that membership. Since 2015 he has served as Secretary of the Korean American Bar Association San Diego, a role that has involved administrative duties and event organization. He also lists current standing as a registered patent lawyer and holds membership in other professional groups related to his practice.

He keeps a practical approach to cases and client problems, preferring clear explanations over legal jargon. His work remains rooted in combining biological knowledge and legal procedure. He practices in California and is engaged in patent and intellectual property matters in the San Diego area, where he continues to work on patent preparation, prosecution, and related IP counseling.
