About John E.
John E. Flor built his legal foundation in the classroom. He earned a B.A. from Flagler College in 2003, where he studied political science, anthropology and foreign studies. He went on to Suffolk University Law School and received his J.D. in 2008.
He began his legal career in the public sector soon after law school. In 2008 he served as an Assistant District Lawyer in the Bristol County District Lawyer's Office. That role placed him in court regularly and gave him practical experience in prosecution and case preparation.
By 2012 he had taken on municipal work in addition to his trial assignments. That year he served as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of New Bedford. He also established the Law Office of John Elliot Flor and began offering legal services through his own practice. Those moves shifted his daily work between advising public bodies and representing private clients.
Across those roles Flor handled procedural and substantive matters typical of both a prosecutor's office and a municipal law office. He developed experience on courtroom procedure, client counseling for public entities, and drafting legal memoranda and ordinances. Colleagues from different offices have noted his familiarity with municipal regulations and local court practices.
Flor’s path mixes government service and solo practice. He has moved from courtroom advocacy in the district attorney’s office to municipal advisory work as a city solicitor and then to managing an independent law office. The variety has left him comfortable in hearings and in behind-the-scenes legal work for officials and individuals alike.
He maintains his practice at the Law Office of John Elliot Flor. He works on matters that reflect his background in municipal law and prosecutorial practice, including municipal representation, criminal-related proceedings and related civil matters.
