About John Di
John Di Giacomo graduated from Michigan State University College of Law in 2006 with a J.D. concentrated in intellectual property. He completed his legal education at a time when digital media and online content were becoming central to IP practice. The degree set the stage for a career that bridges traditional copyright concerns and newer technology-driven questions.
He is licensed to practice in Michigan and Illinois. After law school he entered private practice and a few years later joined Revision Legal. In 2012 he became a partner there. Colleagues describe a practitioner who combines technical legal knowledge with experience on transactional matters and policy-oriented memberships.
Di Giacomo has been active in professional and civic organizations for more than a decade. He is a member of The Copyright Society of the United States since 2012, and he served on the Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Antrim Bar Association Board of Governors from 2011 to 2013. Earlier memberships include the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Independent Game Developers Association in the early 2010s. He has also taken a visible role in Traverse City area institutions, serving on the boards of the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority and the Traverse City History Center beginning in 2012, and joining the board of ph Productions Comedy Theater in 2014.
Those affiliations map onto the practical work he does. The Copyright Society membership aligns with work involving authorship and rights clearance. Involvement with game developers and digital-rights groups reflects an interest in how emerging technologies intersect with intellectual property rules. His board service in Traverse City signals sustained ties to the local community outside the office.
At Revision Legal, Di Giacomo is part of a team that handles matters for creators, small businesses, and organizations that operate in creative and technical spheres. He has been described by peers as methodical in client counseling and attentive in transactional detail. He has regularly balanced pro bono and community-facing responsibilities alongside private practice.
He maintains an active practice out of Revision Legal and continues to participate in regional cultural and development boards. He focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark counseling, and legal issues affecting creative and technology-driven enterprises.
