About John Davis

John Davis Hoffman is an attorney whose career spans more than three decades in both state and federal courts. He trained in economics and law before entering private practice. He is known in courtrooms where lengthy files and complex procedural issues are common.

Hoffman earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1982. He then returned to the southeastern United States to attend the University of Miami School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1986. Those years provided classroom training in litigation, procedure and regulatory matters, and laid the foundation for his later courtroom work.

He entered private practice at the end of the 1980s. In 1989 he worked as an associate at Kimbrell & Hamann P.A. Two years later he joined the Law Offices of Arthur C. Moller P.A. as an associate. By 1994 he had become a partner at the Law Offices of Hoffman & Hoffman P.A., the firm where he has since practiced.

Hoffman holds admissions across a broad range of federal and state tribunals. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Claims and the United States Tax Court. His federal court admissions also include the Southern District of Florida, the Northern District of Florida, the District of Arizona, the Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern Districts of Florida and New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

He is board certified as a civil trial lawyer by the Florida Bar, a credential that signals experience in contested civil trials. Hoffman is also active in the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section. Over the years he has handled matters that required appearances in both trial and appellate forums, including specialized tribunals such as bankruptcy and tax court.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and direct in court. He spends much of his time on litigation-related work that leverages his courtroom admissions and certification. Hoffman remains based at the Law Offices of Hoffman & Hoffman P.A., where he currently practices and handles civil trial matters in state and federal courts.
