About John Clayton

John Clayton Caldwell built a legal foundation that mixes public administration and law. He earned a B.A. in history and political science from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi in 1995. He returned to the same university for an M.B.A. in public administration, completing that degree in 1999. He later took up legal studies at South Texas College of Law and received his J.D. in 2004.

Caldwell has practiced in Texas since completing law school. He maintains a private practice through the Law Office of John C. Caldwell, where he represents clients in state matters. He is admitted to practice in Texas and maintains membership in the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, a membership he has held since 2017.

His background in public administration informs how he approaches cases. The M.B.A. work gave him additional perspective on organizational and governmental processes. He combines that perspective with a traditional legal education when preparing cases, drafting pleadings and advising clients on procedural steps.

Peers and clients encounter him most often in court filings and hearings. His practice navigates state court procedures and the practical demands of litigation. He handles case preparation, client interviews, evidence review and courtroom advocacy as needed. He has experience managing the logistical demands that come with trial calendars and court deadlines.

Outside the courtroom Caldwell maintains ties to the legal community through professional association membership and local events. His membership in the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association places him among lawyers who routinely handle state criminal matters in the Houston area. That affiliation offers continuing legal education and a network of colleagues who practice in overlapping areas of the law.

Caldwell’s combination of a liberal arts undergraduate degree, an M.B.A., and a J.D. underpins his work at the Law Office of John C. Caldwell. He continues to practice in Texas courts and concentrates his practice on criminal defense matters and other state-level litigation handled through his firm.
