About John
John Altorelli is an attorney whose career bridges two neighboring state bars and a private practice leadership role. He completed his law degree at Cornell Law School in 1993 after earning a Bachelor of Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1991. The academic path placed him among peers at an Ivy League law program and prepared him for admission to practice soon after.
He joined the bars of Connecticut and New York in 1994 and has maintained active membership in both since that year. That dual admission has allowed him to take on matters that cross state lines and to advise clients who operate in both jurisdictions. His long-standing presence in those bars reflects steady work in private practice rather than roles in public office or academia.
Altorelli is the managing partner of Aequum Law. In that capacity he oversees firm operations while remaining involved in client matters. Managing partner duties have required a mix of administrative decision-making and legal work. He balances running the firm with addressing the practical needs of clients who require counsel licensed in Connecticut and New York.
Across his career he has combined courtroom exposure and transactional experience. He has handled matters that call for careful attention to procedure and the interplay of state law rules. Those experiences inform how he supervises case strategy and how he mentors junior attorneys at the firm. Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach and pragmatic in setting priorities.
His sustained membership in the State Bar of Connecticut and the New York State Bar since 1994 has kept him engaged with professional standards and continuing legal education requirements. He participates in bar activities appropriate to a lawyer who practices in two jurisdictions, and he maintains the licensure necessary to represent clients in both states.
Outside the office he continues to follow developments in state law that affect commercial and civil practice between Connecticut and New York. He brings that attention to detail into conversations with clients when planning litigation strategy or transactional steps. He leads Aequum Law while also handling the substantive legal work that benefits from dual-state admission.
He currently practices law in Connecticut and New York as Managing Partner of Aequum Law.
