About John A. Norton
John A. Norton Jr. earned his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1984 after completing a B.A. at Saint Anselm College in 1981. Those formative years shaped his approach to the law and provided the academic foundation he carried into practice. He remains connected to the region where he studied and built his career.
After law school Norton moved into private practice and eventually became a partner at Pulgini & Norton, LLP. His partnership at the firm marks a long-term role in the firm’s leadership. He works alongside other attorneys at the firm and shares responsibility for guiding cases and mentoring younger lawyers.
Norton is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. That combination of state and federal admissions means he appears in both state courts and federal court when matters require. Over the years he has managed litigation matters through pleadings, motion practice and trials, representing clients in court proceedings.
He holds memberships in several local legal organizations. Norton is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Association and the Massachusetts State Bar. Those memberships connect him to continuing education, professional networks and civic initiatives within the legal community.
Colleagues describe Norton as steady and practical in the courtroom. He approaches cases by breaking complex issues into discrete problems. In negotiations he tends to lay out options plainly and press for clear resolutions. In contested proceedings he moves methodically through the record, emphasizing fundamentals such as procedure and evidentiary footing rather than stylistic flourishes.
Outside of case work Norton participates in firm management and client intake, helping to shape how the firm handles new matters. He also contributes to the mentoring of associates and to internal discussions about litigation strategy. He balances trial and motion work with the administrative responsibilities that come with partnership.
He is a partner at Pulgini & Norton, LLP, and currently focuses his practice on litigation in Massachusetts state and federal courts.
