About John A.
John A. Lentz earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2007. He completed his legal studies at a state school known for its practical curriculum. The year of his graduation set the stage for a career rooted in Nebraska courts and federal practice within the region.
After law school, Lentz established his practice in Nebraska and developed experience handling matters that arise in both state and federal forums. Over time he expanded the geographic reach of his work to include matters covered by the Eighth Circuit. He is admitted to practice in Nebraska and before the Eighth Circuit, a credential that allows him to take cases beyond a single county or courthouse.
His work touches procedural and substantive aspects of litigation, including preparation of pleadings, motion practice and court appearances. He has handled filings and hearings at different levels of the state system while also meeting the procedural requirements of federal practice. That dual exposure shapes how he prepares cases and how he evaluates options for clients facing contested issues.
Lentz maintains offices in Lincoln and Omaha, giving him a presence in the capital and in the state’s largest city. Those offices provide a base for representing clients across Nebraska. He works with individuals and organizations that bring disputes to state courts and that require representation in federal proceedings governed by the Eighth Circuit’s rules.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He tends to break complex problems into discrete tasks. He emphasizes careful drafting and courtroom preparation. He also pays attention to scheduling and procedural detail, elements that often affect the outcome of litigation. He prefers clear case plans and measurable steps rather than open-ended strategies.
Outside the courtroom, Lentz has engaged in the routine duties that come with maintaining a multi-office practice: supervising filings, handling client communications, and coordinating local counsel when matters cross county lines. Those responsibilities shape the administrative side of his practice as much as the legal work itself.
He currently practices in Nebraska, representing clients in state court and in proceedings before the Eighth Circuit.
