About John A.

John A. Daspit built his professional foundation in accounting before turning to law. He earned both a B.S. and an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. After several years grounding himself in numbers and audits, he graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2001. That combination of accounting and legal training shapes his work style and informs his approach to client matters.

His early legal career took him to Fulbright & Jaworski, where he worked as an associate starting in 2005. At a large firm, he encountered a range of corporate and transactional matters. The hour-heavy environment of big-law practice offered a chance to observe business clients and their counsel up close. He also became a member of the State Bar of Texas in 2005 and has maintained that membership through the present.

In 2013 he opened his own practice, founding Daspit Law Office. The move shifted his role from firm associate to principal and manager. He handles intake, case strategy and client communications. Running a small firm required him to wear many hats: lawyer, business manager and client adviser. Those responsibilities echo the dual training he received in accounting and law.

Colleagues and clients often note that his background in accounting helps when a case turns on financial records. He pays attention to ledgers, tax documents and balance sheets. That attention to financial detail can matter in business disputes, contract reviews and cases where damages must be calculated. He is admitted to practice in Texas and his practice is anchored in Houston and Southeast Texas.

Daspit Law Office maintains offices in downtown Houston and in Beaumont. The two locations allow him to serve clients across the region while keeping a compact office structure. He handles matters that require both legal analysis and a practical understanding of business records. His firm’s size lets him keep direct involvement in each file.

Over the years his practice has reflected the intersection of accounting and law. He moves between courtroom preparation, client counseling and document review. That mix of tasks is familiar territory for someone who studied accounting before law school. He currently practices law in Texas, operating Daspit Law Office out of downtown Houston and Beaumont and representing clients on matters that involve legal and financial issues.
