About Johana A.
Johana A. Reed trained first as a finance and acquisition specialist before turning to the law. She earned a Master of Science in Finance from American University in 1985 and a Master of Science in Contract and Acquisition Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1991. She later returned to school and received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.
Her early legal career began in Washington, D.C. She joined Venable, Baetjer, Howard & Civiletti, LLP as an associate in 1997. The role placed her at the intersection of regulatory work and client counseling in a large-firm environment. After several years in private practice she moved in-house to the defense sector.
In 2002 Reed took a senior counsel position at BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P. in York, Pennsylvania. There she handled transactional matters and compliance issues tied to government procurement. The job exposed her to complex contract negotiations, subcontractor relationships, and the practical demands of defense contracting. Her time at BAE broadened her exposure to both domestic and international procurement frameworks.
By 2011 she was serving as general counsel for SUPREME GROUP USA LLC in Reston, Virginia. In that role Reed managed legal operations for a company active in logistics and government support services. She oversaw contractual obligations, risk allocation, and efforts to ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations. The position mixed senior management responsibilities with hands-on legal problem solving.
Reed’s background combines technical procurement training and formal legal education. She has worked on matters that include contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute avoidance. Her clients and employers have relied on her to interpret procurement rules, advise on contract terms, and steer organizational policies on ethics and vendor management.
She now practices at USG Contracts & Compliance PLLC. Her current work involves advising clients on government contracts, procurement strategies, and compliance programs. The practice draws on her experience in-house and in private practice to address the legal and operational challenges of federal contracting.
