About Joel Martin
Joel Martin Sunshine is a seasoned family law attorney based in Garden City, New York. He co-founded Sunshine & Feinstein, LLP, a firm specializing in divorce and family law matters. The firm is located at 7600 Jericho Turnpike, Suite 201, Woodbury, New York 11797. Mr. Sunshine earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University in 1989. He then pursued his Juris Doctor at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, graduating in 1994. During law school, he served as President of the Moot Court Board and received the Dale S.
Margulis Award for Service to the Law School and Community. He was also inducted into the National Order of Barristers for excellence in appellate advocacy. After law school, Mr. Sunshine began his legal career with an internship at the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. He then joined the Law Office of Paula Schwartz Frome, where he drafted and argued appeals. He also served as counsel to the Law Offices of Kenneth J — Weinstein and Kase & Druker, Esqs., both in Garden City, New York. In these roles, he gained experience in criminal, matrimonial, and civil litigation, handling trials, depositions, motion practice, pleadings, discovery, arbitrations, administrative law hearings, and settlement negotiations.
In 2003, Mr. Sunshine co-founded Sunshine & Feinstein, LLP. By that time, he had established a substantial practice representing numerous Long Island and New York City businesses. His practice areas expanded to include divorce and family law, areas in which he has since become regarded. Throughout his career, Mr. Sunshine has handled a diverse range of cases, from DWI criminal trials to sensitive child custody disputes, education law hearings, federal civil rights litigation, and complex commercial litigation. His clients include Fortune 500 corporations, building contractors, manufacturers, media companies, restaurant and food distributors, large non-profit organizations, professionals.
Individuals. Mr. Sunshine is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association, where he serves on the Matrimonial Law Committee, Family Law Committee, and Commercial & Corporate Law Committee. He was screened by the Nassau County Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee and found "well qualified" to serve as a Judge for the Fourth District Court in 2003 and the Glen Cove City Court in 2006.
